Choosing Kitchen Appliances

Kitchen appliances have a lot of very cool styles! The looks modern appliances have are really something - and the cool styles and types of modern appliances is enough to make us Oooo and Ahhh like watching fireworks at the fourth of July as we look to buy the right kitchen appliance selection for our new or remodeled kitchen.

When choosing new appliances for your kitchen however, be sure NOT to choose and buy your new appliances based on the style alone. It is very important to also consider the efficiency of the appliances and fixtures, along with the durability of the kitchen appliances you are choosing when remodeling or upgrading your kitchen.

The kitchen is the most used room in a home, and the fixtures and appliances in your kitchen do the majority of the work. The appliances you are purchasing may represent a couple to several thousand dollars that will be invested so choosing your kitchen appliances wisely and choosing the best selection of appliances for your needs needs to happen!

Do your homework! Visit your local library and read up on consumer reports on the appliances you are considering purchasing before choosing your final appliance selection. Talk to your local kitchen contractor or kitchen designer and ask if they have recommendations.

The more you learn about the appliances you are choosing, the higher the odds will be that you will be happy with your appliance selection for years to come.

Summary:

Appliance Selection

- Do not choose appliances based entirely on style

- Instead Include Durability and Efficiency of Appliances

- Do your homework. Read Consumer Reports on Appliances.

Kitchen Appliance Buying Guide New Kitchen Appliance Buyers Guide 3

Kitchen Appliance Buying Guide Three
Kitchen Appliance Buying Guide Manual

Appliance Buyers Topic
- Best Appliance
- For the Best Dollar!

Best Dollar
A common mistake appliance buyers make is assuming an appliance warehouse has the best bargains. The advertising is catchy - still often the warehouse "guaranteed low pricing" is advertising that must be paid for. In fact - a recent customer found the warehouse pricing for appliances to be 15 % higher than the local home improvement stores. The warranty with the local home improvement stores was much better than the "Guaranteed Low Pricing or Its Free" slogan that the factory appliance outlet store was promoting.

It Pays - To Shop Around! Smaller appliance dealers must have to pay more for appliances and will have higher pricing- Right? This is in fact - usually NOT true! The smaller appliance dealers usually pool together with other smaller deals pooling resources together to buy bigger volumes at discounted rates.

Best Warranty
As I mentioned the warranty was much better for a recent customer with the local home improvement store than the appliance factory outlet. Ask about the extent of the warranty. Which parts are covered? Does the warranty include labor? Will the warranty be honored by another dealer?

Installation Requirements
Verify installation requirements with the appliance you will be purchasing. Appliance have their own requirements - a gas oven needs a gas line where if you are going from gas to electric a larger electrical circuit may be needed. A refrigerator with an ice maker - Requires a water line! Some of you are saying - Duh! :-) Still - Many appliance purchasers have made these mistakes! A refrigerator will not make ice if you just plug it in! If your basement is finished off - and you want to convert from a gas oven to electric or from a electric oven to gas - VERIFY you can do this! Money talks the saying goes - anything can be done for the right dollar. Just be sure to include for these items (Converting to electric, to gas, or adding a water line) if they are needed into your budgeting.

What's Included?
If the appliance your are purchasing requires professional installation ask if the installation is included in the purchase price. Is delivery included? If you are installing the appliance yourself and do not need a delivery - Verify these charges are not included in your purchase price or take advantage of their services!

Fulfill Your Desires
List the items that are most important to you in your new kitchen. Do not settle for something less than what you want. List the important items for your kitchen. Separate essential items from your "deluxe" items. When possible - keep a few of the "deluxe" items for your new kitchen on your list! Adding extra class to your new kitchen by including a few "deluxe" items is a good idea as possible. You will have invested a lot of dollars into your new kitchen and including the items you want included is important to ensure that good feeling inside of you with your kitchen remodeling results!

Appliance Buying Guide 2

Appliance buying guide 1 covered the first two steps in buying appliances. They were your money matters so set a realistic dollar amount (Budget) and check out consumer publications from your local library before buying appliances.

Purchasing appliances is an important decision. The quality of the components of kitchen appliances is more important than the number of novelty options for your long term satisfaction with the appliances. Items such as the power output of microwave ovens, the amount of arms spraying water in a dishwasher, or the storage volume capacity of a refrigerator are all important elements to consider. In short - Verify quality and capacity of the appliances.

Verify - Sizes of the Appliances

Sizing appliances according to your needs is important. Equally important is to make sure the appliance fits into your home! Have a detailed list of the measurements you have to work with in your kitchen for EACH item. The appliance will be in your kitchen for many years, so also consider potential changes in your family's size, lifestyle, and your home's design when making decisions on appliance sizing and capacity.

Choosing Kitchen Appliances the Smart Way #1

Kitchen Appliance Selections
Selecting the right appliance and fixtures for your new kitchen is not an easy task. In kitchen appliance stores today there are a wide selection of kitchen appliance types, sizes, and styles with dollar amounts on the appliances as diverse as the features with the new appliances making even the kitchen contractors unable to grasp the many models of appliances.

Kitchen Appliance Dollar Amount
Your Money Matters! Set realistic dollar amount (Budget) for your new kitchen. This planning step for your new kitchen of setting a realistic dollar amount and determining a budget is a very important step. This step helps you determine where to have the necessary features and if there will be money to place onto the more luxury appliances.

Finding the appliances that are right for your needs is the important thing to remember before purchasing appliances. For instance if you wash fruits and vegetables and use the sink a lot you may want the best, largest sink on the market. Do you do a lot of baking? A large top grade oven may be where you want to invest extra dollars. If you are an older couple who seldom uses the microwave you can save dollars by having a smaller model and spend less on your microwave selection.

The Local Library
Go to your local library or view consumer reports online before you purchase your kitchen appliances. They have great reports on each model of appliance helping you to determine what model is right for your needs and which kitchen appliance models will stand the test of time.

A younger couple we did a new kitchen installation for recently mentioned that at very appliance dealer one style of dishwasher was less than the rest by $3o. The appliance models all looked the same, and after viewing the consumer report they saw there was a problem on 10 - 15 percent of the switches with the lower dollar dishwasher. After reading the consumer report on kitchen appliances they instead found a better rated appliance on sale and saved money anyway!

Do Your Homework! Check out the local library.

Summary:
#1 View consumer reports before purchasing appliances.
#2 Know the budget amount that is right for your needs!
